The MOM audio:tec PRE312 is a faithful replica of the legendary microphone preamplifier 312 of the manufacturer API from the 70s. The design of this preamplifier is relatively simple and ingenious at the same time, consisting of only three elements: a custom-made input transformer, a discrete operational amplifier and a custom-made output transformer. In particular, its phase linearity makes it a popular choice for recording transient-rich material such as drums. But it also gives vocals, guitars and much more a rich and characterful sound.

The assembled module is in the 500 API format and fits into the commercially available racks (so-called "lunch boxes"). The power supply, as well as the inputs and outputs in XLR connector format, are therefore only available via the corresponding rack and are not located on the microphone preamplifier module itself. Stand-alone operation is therefore not possible!
The demand of the building project is to be classified for advanced. Good soldering skills should be present in any case.

Note:
The kit includes everything you need to build a true-to-the-original API 312 microamplifier, except for the plug-on operational amplifier in typical 2520 style, as it is common for this kind of microphone preamplifier. This is sold separately and is not part of this kit!
